Working With Sources

The API Source is how you connect to your Services data and where you store the locations of your data, and their respective credentials, if applicable. A source defines a connection to a service that you can integrate into a task.  A complete detailed listing on how to configure the sources by each API service can be found in the help under the Services Configuration menu.

Define the API Source

Create a source by clicking on the Sources link in the left menu pane.

Steps
  1. Click on the “Sources” menu link in the left pane then click on the “+” Add Source button.
  2. Enter the name for the source.
  3. Select the service connector.
  4. You will then be presented with options to connect to the service based on the connector you chose in step 3. Most service connectors have options like account number or name, API keys and authentication credentials.
  5. If needed, go to your online service account and get the API keys and any other info required to connect to the service API.
  6. Enter the API required keys and other credentials.
  7. Click “Save” to create the source.

Note that the number of sources you are able to create may be limited on your plan version.

Editing a Source
Steps
  1. Click on the “sources” menu link in the left pane.
  2. Click on the source you would like to change by clicking on the source name link.
  3. Click on the “Edit” button.
  4. Make the changes required.
  5. Click “Save” to update the source.
Cloning a Source

Most API services have many collection or end points that allow you to connect to various data sets.  Cloning will allow you to easily create a new source without having to re-enter all the account info.  After cloning the source, you can change the collection or end point to define the new data set collection.

Steps
  1. Click on the “Sources” menu link in the left pane.
  2. Click on the source you would like to clone by clicking on the source name link.
  3. Click on the “Clone” button. A new copy of the source will be created in the source list.  The name of the new source will be prefixed with the words “Clone of”
  4. Click “Edit” to change the name of the new source and make any other changes for your collection.
  5. Click “Save” to update the source.
Create a Task from a Source

A task is a connection to a source (which you defined in your sources) that output to a file. You can have more than one task pointing to the same source.

Steps
  1. Click on the “Sources” menu link in the left pane.
  2. Click on the “Create Task From Source” button.  Enter the info to set-up the task.  Learn More about creating Tasks.
Delete a Source
Steps
  1. Click on the “Sources” menu link in the left pane.
  2. Click on the source you would like to delete by clicking on the source name link.
  3. Click “Delete” to remove the Source.
