OpenRates delivers accurate and up-to-date exchange rate data for 32 world currencies in JSON format. All currency data is sourced from the European Central Bank and updated daily at around 4:00pm CET. Extrata downloads your data using the Open Rates API.

The OpenRates API also offers historical exchange rates back to the year of 1999, supports HTTPS and is powered by a rock-solid infrastructure.

Steps to Configure the Open Rates API Service Connector
Steps to Set-up the Source
  1. Click on the “Sevices” menu link in the left pane.
  2. Click on the “+” next to the Open Rates service.
  3. Enter the Source Name.
  4. Enter the optional Source Description.  Text in the description is useful during search requests.
  5. The Service should already default to “Open Rates”.
  6. Click Save to create the new source.
Steps to Set-up the Task
  1. Click on the “Projects” menu link in the left pane.
  2. If there are no projects listed, create a new project, otherwise go to step 3.
  3. Click on the project name that will contain the task. Click the “Add Task” button.
  4. Enter the Task Name.
  5. Enter the optional Task Description.  Text in the description is useful during search requests.
  6. The Project is where the task is saved and it defaults to the Project name selected from the project list.  If you need to change the project, select the new project from the drop down list.
  7. The Source defaults to the source name which is set as the default for the project.  If you need to change the source, select the new source from the drop down list.
  8. For the Base Currency field, enter the three character currency for the rates.  Examples: USD, EUR, CAD
  9. Enter the path or browse to the Save To Folder. The Save To Folder location defaults to the same location you set in your project, but you can also override it.
  10. Enter the file name for the output file.
  11. Select the File Type from the drop down list.  When saved, the file name will end with the selected file type.
  12. Click Save to create the new Task.
Running the Task
  1. Click on the “Projects” menu link in the left pane.
  2. Select the Project that contains the task.
  3. In the Tasks list, click the Run Open Rates API Task run icon for the task you would like to run.  The data will be downloaded from your service using the API and saved to the output file location. During the run, a Run Task dialog window will open with a task log of the run.  You can use this log to troubleshoot any run-time issues.
